Another SaberCats season has come and gone and we are proud to say that we will attend Fan appreciation night on July 11 when the SaberCats take Tampa Bay Storm. The SaberCats will play their final home game of the regular season at SAP center at 7:30pm. We will be there out one last time this season to showcase our lineup of headphones. So if you are there then don’t forget to stop by our table and listen to your favorite music on any of our headphones. We will once again showcase our vTrue studio headphones, vLeve on-ear headphones, vFree and vBold Bluetooth headphones and finally our vQuiet noise-cancelling headphones. We hope to see you at the game.

Mother’s Day is coming up on May 11…have you purchased your gift yet? Every year, we mull over the same old options: perfume, jewelry, flowers, etc. If your mother is cool, and likes music and has a sense of style and taste, we have just the thing for her.
Our vLeve and vFree are both unique, high-quality headphones. In addition to their teardrop shape, designed by our President and artist Marta Hall, they obviously have the incredible Velodyne sound. We have created a reusable skin, made of either PVC or silicone depending on the style, that serves as a headphone cover, much like the iPhone covers on the market. These skins have fun, artistic designs in many colors that can be switched out to match an outfit or a mood. These skins turn your portable electronics into an instant fashion statement. The headphones make quite a statement on their own. They are collapsible and come with their own drawstring carrying pouch which comes in handy when they are not in use. The vLeve is a great wired headphone which creates the perfect base for any one of our designer skins. The vFree headphone is equipped with Bluetooth technology. Music on the go, free of wires is a pretty amazing thing. Additionally, the battery lasts 10 hours and is rechargeable. What are you waiting for? Shop our website so you don’t show up empty-handed.

Arena Football season is here. We are happy to say that we are again sponsoring the San Jose SaberCats this Arena Football season. For those of you that were not aware, we sponsored the SaberCats last year during the 2013 season. We attended three home games at SAP center where we showcased a few of our headphones including the vTrue, vFree and vLeve out on the concourse. We also did a raffle and gave away a pair of headphones at each game we went to.
We are proud to say that we attended the SaberCats home opener on Sunday March 23rd at SAP Center and showed off almost our full line of headphones. This year we are showing off our vQuiet noise-cancelling headphones, vBold Bluetooth headphones in addition to the vFree, vTrue, vLeve. If you did not see us at the home opener don’t worry because we will be at 2 more SaberCats home games this year. Our next game will be on May 3rd at SAP center when the SaberCats take on the Orlando Predators. We will also attend the SaberCats last home game of the regular reason on Friday July 11 when the SaberCats take on the Tampa Bay Storm. So if you were not able already please stop by our table and listen to our headphones at our next game.

This month is a busy one for Velodyne marketing. We are participating in two trade shows that nearly overlap each other in different parts of the country. The Nationwide Marketing Group is putting on the Primetime vendor show from March 9-12, 2014 in Las Vegas, NV. This marketing group represents nearly 5000 independent retailers of Furniture, appliances, and consumer electronics in the US and Canada.
Velodyne has joined the Nationwide Marketing Group as one of its newest vendors. Like the members of the Nationwide, Velodyne is a family owned, independent company. Nationwide Primetime is a show put on for the Nationwide membership twice a year for the vendors to showcase product to the members and meet face to face. This Primetime show will be Velodyne’s first opportunity to introduce the Nationwide membership to Velodyne’s products. We will be showing our complete current subwoofer line as well as participating in workshops and conferences. We are looking forward to taking advantage of profitable opportunities at this huge buying show. Come out and see us!
Another first for Velodyne is the participation in SXSW. This music, film and interactive trade show taking place in Austin, TX March 7-16, 2014 promises a lot of great exposure for Velodyne. This show will provide a great platform for marketing and promoting our business to a large but targeted audience. In addition to the trade show, we will have our headphones on display, complete with listening stations at stand 726, and at stand 401 at The Music Gear Expo as well. We are excited to connect with buyers, musicians and tech gear-heads. Of course we look forward to catching some great music while we’re in town. We are partnering with Cellar Music to put on the Jump-Off party at Maggie Mae’s on March 12. Two bands that Velodyne has worked closely with this past year, The Mowgli’s and Finish Ticket, will be performing with a host of other bands that will provide a rockin’ experience. We also plan to have headphone giveaways throughout the week. Hope to see you there!

In the past year, Velodyne’s Designer Skins have taken on a life of their own. Starting off with 35 designs available on our website, the designer skins originally were created as a true fashion accessory to fit over our vFree wireless headphones to match any mood or outfit. Over time, we held a few contests, promotions and developed partnershnips that involved blank skins and non-Velodyne employees getting creative and designing their own. The “Artist Corner” has been a popular activity during music festivals and concert ticket lines. We have also partnered with the Anno Domini Gallery in San Jose, CA which has led to custom painted subwoofers in addition to several one-of-a-kind headphone skins that may have the chance to go into mass production.
Blank headphone skins are available at Velodyne.com for you to unleash your inner artist. They are available in both white and black. You can paint them, draw on them with colored markers, or add other materials for a true multimedia art project.
Most recently, we have released the vLeve headphone, which is the perfect base for any one of our headphone skins, whether it be Designer, Artist Series, or your very own creation. The sound is incredible for a basic headphone with the unique teardrop design trademarked by Velodyne President Marta Hall.
The most exciting development we have for the headphone skins is the custom design for musical artists, athletes/sports teams. We have designed a skin for The Mowgli’s, which we will debut at SXSW in March. We started by creating one for the 2013 California-Carolina All-Star game held here at San Jose Municipal Stadium last summer. From there, we have created many renderings that are still under consideration. There are other custom skins in the works, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, go to our site and pick up a skin for your vLeve or vFree. Or two or three.
How do you express yourself? The choice is yours.

This year’s International CES was great for Velodyne. We were able to hold many face to face meetings with our worldwide suppliers and distributors. We really do value our relationships and it’s nice to be able to solidify our partnerships in this manner rather than the usual Skype call. We also had the opportunity to connect with the press directly at Unveiled and conduct recorded and live-streaming interviews.
During the course of the week, we were able to show off many of our new products. In addition to our vLeve, vBold and vQuiet, we had our vFit on hand. It had literally just come in, and is technically still not available, but our first fitness headphone was well-received. Our new wireless sub, the Wi-Q, was a big hit. We gave it front-and-center status in our suite at the Venetian, and are sending out several units for reviews. We also had many subs in finishes the public has not seen from Velodyne before. We had subwoofers in gold, red and purple metallic. Additionally we had a subwoofer wrapped in leather. CES gives us the ideal opportunity to get feedback from both the press and our customers on potential new products. Velodyne personnel and staff who really know our products inside and out were on hand to answer technical questions regarding our audio equipment. The constant flow of traffic through the suite was exciting and kept us going all week long.
A definite highlight was receiving the Editor’s Choice Award from Stereowise Plus. Velodyne President, Marta Hall was on-hand to receive the award personally.
Another highlight was Marta Hall’s interview on a webcast for Geekbeat.TV. She so eloquently shared information about our company and our three divisions, as well as our headphones and our artist skins. The exciting part for most was when she announced we would be giving our free headphones to everyone who came to our website to register for our newsletter. It was incredible – the response we received was outstanding. In Velodyne’s spirit of giving, it is just another fun way we can share our great products with the public.
Due to some recent announcements by the Ford Motor Co., we had David Oroshnik from our LiDAR division present at the show this year. Our LiDAR car was on display in the Sands Ballroom, where thousands of onlookers each day could see our technology scan the environment in real-time, 3D, on a large flat screen. David held plenty of meetings and press interviews for this division and answered all of the product questions regarding our patented LiDAR technology as well. The questions ranged from basic, “What’s that?” to the very complicated. It was quite a busy spot to be as we also had our headphones and skins on display complete with a listening station.
Velodyne is a fun and intrinsically artistic company. We had one of our friends and fans, Marquette King, punter from the Oakland Raiders on hand to take photos, sign autographs and discuss his love of the brand. We also had two talented dancers from SCC Presents reign in the crowd and distribute literature. There was never a dull moment for us in the Ballroom.
We also participated in the Fashionware wearable tech fashion show again this year. This show is “growing up”. With it’s own room dedicated to the show in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, this year’s presentation had a full runway, modern lighting, 2 large screens and a hosted bar and warm appetizers. We had two models in the show, one wearing our vBold bluetooth headphone, and the other wearing our vFree. Both models wore outfits that were featured from other wearable tech companies. This was the perfect environment for us to show our products as fashion and technology are at the core of who we are. It was an honor to participate in this event.
How will we top CES 2014? We now have almost a whole year to prepare for next year’s show. We will need every last minute. Until then, Las Vegas. Viva!

This past week one of our higher profile supporters came to visit us at Velodyne Headquarters. Marquette King, punter for the Oakland Raiders stopped by during our office holiday luncheon to meet our employees and sign autographs. Charming and humble, with a wide, genuine smile, Marquette showed great interest as he toured our production and warehouse area. He even got a rare treat, to speak to our CEO and Founder David Hall.
King played for Fort Valley State University, where he was MVP his senior year. In that 2011 season, King led the Conference in punting with an impressive 43 yards per punt average. 21 punts landed inside his opponents’ 20-yard-line and sixteen of his punts were for 50 yards or more. The following year, he got a 3-year deal with the Oakland Raiders but ended up on the injured reserve list for the 2012 season. It wasn’t until the veteran punter on the team became a free agent that King was really in competition for the job during this last preseason, which he secured when his competition, a veteran punter, was cut.
Marquette loves our headphones. He has unique taste and sense of style, and he is very interested in creating a custom headphone skin with Velodyne. His favorite headphones are our vBold wireless headphones, for their deep, rich sound. These headphones enable him to move freely without wires. And, he’s always on the move. We look forward to trying to keep up with him in the off-season.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world descend upon the city of Las Vegas, Nevada for the International CES. Thousands of exhibitors use CES as the platform to share their technological innovations in consumer electronics. These big players in technology also launch thousands of new products at this show each year. We will kick off CES 2014 with Unveiled. This official CES media event will be held at Mandalay Bay, Level 3, South Seas Ballroom C on January 5, 2014.
Just like last CES, Velodyne will have a presence in two spaces. In the Sands Ballroom, we will occupy spaces #71119 and 71121 with our LiDAR car. We will have one of our fully functioning LiDAR units on display, complete with a real-time readout/display on a monitor. We will also have a headphone listening station at the rear of the car for those who are interested in our personal audio line. We will also occupy last year’s suite at The Venetian, #30-131. In this suite, we will have not only have our headphones but our subwoofers and accessories as well. Current and new customers will be meeting with our sales and executive staff as well as demoing our offerings. New on the lineup for this year will be our vLeve with artist skins, vBold bluetooth headphone, and our vQuiet active noise canceling headphone. Additionally, our latest headphone, the vFit, just arrived at Velodyne headquarters this week, and will be on display. This new headphone is an in-ear model with an earhook which is great for keeping the headphones on during strenuous activity. We will also have our Wi-Q wireless subwoofer as well as many other favorites from both our sub and headphone line.
We will also be participating again in the Fashionware Show, which is a wearable tech fashion show held in the Venetian Ballroom Level 2 on January 9. This is a spotlight on the new popular sector where fashion and technology meet and a perfect fit for Velodyne.
Hope to see you there! Ping us in advance on Twitter if you’d like to meet up: @velodyneaudio

Running is my personal passion, but after family and work it unfortunately comes in third on my list of priorities. However, since running is my “ME” time, I make the most of it. If I’m not running with a friend, thus making a social event out of it, I am running with headphones. When I’m running with my music, I am making my own personal party out of my run.
I won’t lie when I say that the vFit is my most anticipated Velodyne product release to date. The vPulse is an amazing, well-reviewed in-ear headphone which I have used to work out but the vFit is a fitness-targeted headphone. The most attractive feature of these headphones for me are the sport ear hook to keep the headphones on your ears. Plus the vFit comes with 3 sizes of ear tips in 2 different colors to ensure proper fit. The cord clip to prevent flopping up and down when running or on an elliptical trainer at the gym is key.
From a technical standpoint, I am impressed these headphones, like the vPulse, come with a mic for phone calls and controls which are located on the cord. The 10 mm driver coupled with a 20hz-20Khz frequency response means incredible sound, living up to vPulse standards.
Cosmetically speaking, the initial offerings of blue and pink on black should meet the needs of most fitness enthusiasts who require good sound until other colors are released. These headphones should be available in time for holiday shopping so stay tuned. I know I will!
