A Journeyman That Can Be Clutch
Nick Novak and his twin brother Chris was born on August 21st, 1981 and grew up in San Diego, California. When he was 13, he moved to Charlottesville, Virginia and attended Albemarie High School. Nick played both football and soccer in high school and was named twice Garnering All-District and All-Daily Progress honors.
Novak later attended University of Maryland where he played against Georgia Tech as a redshirt freshman. In that game, he kicked a 46-yard field goal to send the game into overtime and eventually won the game on a 26-yard field goal. In his senior season, he became the ACC’s all-time leading scorer with 393 points scored which is best in the league and fifth best amongst kickers in NCAA.
Novak was undrafted free agent and signed with the Washington Redskins in September 2005 and appeared in five games that season. Novak later played for the Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs and currently San Diego Chargers. Novak is known to be clutch kicker, most recently noted for a kick that sent the Chargers to the playoffs in 2014.
Novak currently has a kicking academy for high school athletes who want to take their kicking game to the next step. The academy usually takes place in southern California over the summer.
