I have a 15'x20'x8' home theatre utilizing this great sub with a matched Klipsch bookshelf horn system (2 RB-81 IIs, 1 RC-62 II and 2 RS-62 IIs) powered by an Onkyo TX-NR808 (7.2 135w channel). This subwoofer holds its own, fills in the obvious missing low-end from the front 2-way speakers (the RB-81 IIs are GREAT speakers otherwise), and provides adequate clean bass depth to make one feel a minor earthquake during various recordings. While my receiver is capable of a 7.2 system(as is the subwoofer via pass-through RCA), one MiniVee-10 handles my requirements. Thank you Velodyne for a very practical yet performing upper mid-range sub that performs excellently!!!
This amplified woofer works well in smaller rooms. I would not recommend it for a large home theatre setup, as it has nether the power or projection needed to produce high levels in a large room. It is ideal for use in conjunction with high-quality bookshelf-sized speakers.
If you want a killer sub this is the one, and don't let its size fool you. Amazing low end, no distortion, perfect balance. I am getting ready to add another one of these subs to my theater. Buy One!!
